Markee Gibson Sentenced to 20 Years for Greenville Killing

Greenville, MS- Marquee Gibson was sentenced in the Circuit Court of Washington County District Attorney W. Dewayne Richardson announced today. Gibson was sentenced to twenty years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections after he pled guilty to Manslaughter for the 2016 killing of Jaricky Jackson in Greenville.

Gibson was scheduled to go to trial in July in front of Judge Ashley Hines but instead chose to plead guilty. His sentencing was continued until this week of the court term. The shooting that led to the death of Jackson began with a verbal altercation between the two. Jackson was killed on May 29, 2016 at the intersection of 7th Street and Alexander. In a moving sentencing hearing that was held before the court, the mother of the victim forgave Gibson for what he had done.

This case was investigated by the Greenville Police Department; the District Attorney’s office appreciates their hard work in helping to remove another criminal from the streets of Greenville and Washington County. The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Richardson and Assistant District Attorney John Herzog Jr.
