Antonio Dewey pleads guilty to Manslaughter
In Greenville, Antonio Dewey entered a plea of guilty to Manslaughter for the death of Jake Williams, Jr. in Washington County Circuit Court, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced today.
Antonio Dewey, 29 yoa, was indicted by the Washington County grand jury in November 2015 for the charge of Manslaughter for killing Jake Williams, Jr. on July 1, 2015. Dewey shot Williams while he was handling a pistol in Leland, MS. Dewey initially claimed that it was an accident that occurred when he mishandled a firearm.
Jake Williams, Jr. was a teenager and was scheduled to start his senior year of high school in 2015 at Leland High School. Dewey pled guilty to killing Jake Williams, Jr. and apologetically announced his regret to the family of Lil Jake Williams.
Dewey was sentenced to 20 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections of which he will serve 15 years in prison with the remaining 5 years suspended and on probation.
Richardson added that, “the District Attorney’s office just hopes that the swift closure of this terrible tragedy allows the Williams family to move forward and continue to honor Little Jake’s memory.” Jake Williams, Jr. was killed months prior to the start of his senior year at Leland High School where he was a star athlete in both football and baseball.
