Billy Spivey arrested and sentenced for 2011 homicide

Indianola, MS – In Sunflower County Circuit Court, Billy Spivey, 50 yoa, pled guilty and was sentenced for the shooting death of Pamela Pitts in 2011, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced today. Spivey had been indicted by a Sunflower County grand jury in June 2013 for Murder.

Billy Spivey had originally been scheduled to enter a plea of guilty on October 1, 2014, however he failed to appear for court on that day. From the first of October until mid November Spivey had been on the run until he was finally caught by the U.S. Marshall Fugitive Task Force in Memphis, TN. Earlier today Spivey pled guilty to Manslaughter and Grand Larceny. The charges stemmed from the December 2, 2011 killing of Pamela Pitts in Inverness, MS. Spivey was sentenced to the state’s recommendation of a total of 28 years in prison. After entering his plea of guilty Billy Spivey was remanded to the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections where he will serve the duration of his sentence.

Richardson added that, “the District Attorney’s office hopes that these convictions give the family and friends of Pamela Pitts a sense of relief that her killer has been brought to justice.”
