Charles “Blink” Williams sentenced for 2017 Homicide
Greenville, MS- Charles “Blink” Williams was sentenced on Monday, April 11, for his role in the 2017 killing of a local man District Attorney W. Dewayne Richardson announced today. Williams was sentenced to the maximum for the offense of manslaughter in open court by Judge Carol White-Richard.
Williams pled guilty in May of 2021 to his involvement in the death of Kenneth Braxton and his sentencing was continued pending trial on unrelated charges in Alcorn County, Mississippi. In Alcorn County, Williams was subsequently convicted of the crime of Armed Robbery.
Williams’ sentencing in Washington County stems from his involvement in the killing of Kenneth Braxton Sr. who had been murdered in his home in August of 2017 in North Washington County. Williams was the final defendant sentenced in this case involving Braxton’s death as his co-defendants Joshua Hampton and David Brown having previously pled guilty and been sentenced for their roles in the crime.
“With the sentencing of this final defendant in this case, we hope that the victim’s family can find closure in knowing that all defendants will be spending time behind bars for their roles,” Assistant District Attorney John Herzog Jr. said. Herzog prosecuted the case on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office.
Judge White Richard sentenced Williams to twenty years in the custody of Mississippi Department of Corrections with all twenty of those years to be served for the crime of Manslaughter. This case was investigated by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department; the District Attorney’s office appreciates their hard work in helping to remove another violent criminal from the streets of Greenville and Washington County.
