Greenville, MS- George Fults was sentenced to a total of fifteen years with the Mississippi Department of Corrections for multiple felony offenses during Judge Ashley Hines trial week for a series of crimes that he committed in the fall of 2021.

Fults chose to plead guilty rather than go to trial on two counts of aggravated assault following an incident where he attempted to run another vehicle off of the road in Greenville. The vehicle was occupied by a woman known to Fults and her minor child. For these offenses he received sentences of fifteen years and will have to serve ten of those years in custody with the remaining time suspended and on supervised probation.

Fults was also sentenced after admitting to a burglary of a building and an arson. Fults admitted that he broke into a building and set it ablaze in the city of Greenville. Fults was apprehended covered in soot from the fire thanks to the quick actions of a neighbor who immediately called the police and fire departments. Fults received the maximum sentence of ten years with the Mississippi Department of Corrections for the arson conviction as well as a five-year sentence for the burglary of a non-dwelling.

John Herzog Jr. prosecuted the case for the District Attorney’s Office and stated, “we appreciate the courage that it took for the witnesses and victims in these cases to come forward and report the actions of Fults. Thanks to them, he will be punished for the offenses that he chose to commit.” The District Attorney’s Office appreciates the hard work provided by the Greenville Police and Greenville Fire Departments.
