Howard Hayes sentenced to 12 years
Greenwood, MS – Howard Hayes pled guilty before Judge Margaret Carey-McCray for committing the crimes of Business Burglary and Grand Larceny as a Habitual Offender in Leflore County Circuit Court, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced today.
Prior to being convicted this week, Hayes had at least two prior convictions for Burglary in Leflore County. In this case, Hayes was indicted by the June 2015 Grand Jury for the incident that occurred March of 2014. Investigators with the Greenwood Police Department charged Hayes with breaking into a building on Walthall Street and during the investigation of that crime found Howard Hayes in possession of a stolen automobile.
Judge McCray sentenced both Howard Hayes to the District Attorney’s recommendation of a total of 12 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections to serve as a habitual offender.
