Jury convicts Andrew Watson for House Burglary

Greenville, MS – Washington County resident Andrew Watson found guilty of House Burglary in Washington County Circuit Court, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced today. After only 35 minutes of deliberations, a Washington County jury announced their verdict in open court at 5:55 today.

Following one day of testimony, Andrew Watson was convicted for breaking into the home of a Greenville lady and attempting to assault her.  The victim testified in open court that she fought Watson off as he attempted to rape her.  This crime occurred on April 3, 2014 in the late night hours at the victim’s home.  Watson faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in the State Penitentiary.  This is also Andrew Watson’s second conviction for House Burglary in Washington County.  Judge Ashley Hines presided over the case and he will sentence Watson at a later date.

This case was investigated by the Greenville Police Department and the District Attorney’s office appreciates their hard work in helping to remove another criminal from the streets of Washington County.  Assistant District Attorneys John Herzog, Jr. and Abe McGlothin, Jr. presented this case to the jury.
