Greenville, MS – In Greenville, Kelvin Lamont Threadgill pled guilty to Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon in Washington County Circuit Court, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced today. Threadgill was scheduled for trial on Monday but he opted to plead guilty and not exercise his right to a trial.

Kelvin Lamont Threadgill, 29 yoa, was indicted by the July 2015 Grand Jury for Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. This charge stemmed from the Greenville Police Department arresting him on January 29, 2015, for robbing a female victim as she sat in the parking lot of Gamble Brothers Clinic here in Greenville, MS. The evidence obtained by the Greenville Police Department in this case showed Threadgill hiding behind a dumpster at the rear of the Gamble Clinic waiting to find an unsuspecting victim. Threadgill demanded the victims purse and money while brandishing a handgun.

In a separate indictment, the July Grand Jury also charged Kelvin Threadgill with being in Possession of Contraband items while being housed at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility on February 28, 2015. In this case, officers at the Washington County Regional Jail searched Threadgill following visitation and discovered that he had been given various illegal items during the facility’s scheduled visitation.

Threadgill pled guilty to all of the charges in his indictments. He was sentenced to a total of 22 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Threadgill will serve the first 17 years of his sentence in prison and the last five years on probation.

Richardson added that, “all defendants sentenced to the Penitentiary for Armed Robbery are required by law to serve everyday of their sentence without any early release or parole.”
