Nacardis Williams pleads guilty to April 2015 Homicide
Greenville, MS – In Washington County Circuit Court, Nacardis Williams, 33 yoa, pled guilty to killing Nicholas Smith, 20 yoa, on April 25, 2015, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced today.
On April 25, 2015, Nicholas Smith was found shot and killed in the 700 block of Clay Street here in Greenville, MS. The shooting occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday, April 25, 2015. After a thorough investigation, Nacardis Williams was charged with First Degree Murder for Nicholas Smith’s death. Smith had been shot once in the abdomen.
Nacardis Williams was scheduled to stand trial for this homicide this week, but he chose to plead guilty before Circuit Court Judge Ashley Hines today. Nacardis Williams pled guilty to the crime of Second Degree Murder and was sentenced to the District Attorney Office’s recommendation of 25 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Williams will serve 20 years in prison without any opportunity for early release or parole. After his release, he will then be on probation for five years.
Richardson added that, “the Office of the District Attorney appreciates the hard work of the Greenville Police Department in solving this case. The conviction in this case brings to a close all three homicides that occurred in a 3 day span in Greenville, MS in 2015.” On April 22, 2015 both Kenneth Howard and Michael Smith were shot and killed and then just three days later Williams killed Nicholas Smith. All defendants charged with these homicides have been convicted and are serving mandatory prison time in the Mississippi State Penitentiary.
