RASHAAD SNIPES SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR STRING OF CRIMES
Indianola, MS- On October 14, 2022, twenty year old Rashaad Snipes pled guilty to a string of crimes committed in Sunflower County before Circuit Court Judge Margaret Carey-McCray.
Snipes was charged and indicted for Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery and Burglary of Dwelling stemming from a February 2018 incident. Snipes broke into the victim’s home armed with a firearm, assaulted the victim’s son and demanded video games, and other personal items. The victims were able to identify Snipes and the Indianola Police Department officers and investigators arrested him.
Later, Snipes was arrested and charged following a drive-by shooting in January 2019. Victims and witnesses on Slim Street were able to identify Snipes as being one of the occupants in a black Camaro discharging a firearm. The Indianola Police Department Officers and Investigators arrested Snipes and charged him with Drive by Shooting.
Snipes pled guilty to all the crimes charged; Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, Burglary of Dwelling and Drive by Shooting, and was sentenced to serve a term of twenty (20) years in the custody of Mississippi Department of Corrections for all charges. Each of those sentences are to run concurrently.
These cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Takiyah Perkins who expresses her appreciation for the diligence of the officers and investigators of the Indianola Police Department. “Crimes of violence will not be tolerated, the Office of the District Attorney will continue to ensure that those who choose violence over peace will be brought to justice. I commend the citizens of Indianola in this case that used their voice and came forward,” ADA Perkins offered.
The Office of the District Attorney is truly thankful for the trust and patience of the victims and the witnesses who were courageous enough to come forward and speak out and tell what they saw.
