District Attorney W. Dewayne Richardson announced this week that Marshall Anderson pled guilty Tuesday morning in Washington County Circuit Court to robbing Woodforest Bank, located inside the Wal-Mart Shopping Center on Highway 1 South.

With the case set for trial before Judge Carol White-Richard this week, Anderson chose instead to plead guilty to the charge brought against him. Anderson was sentenced to the State’s recommendation of 15 years with the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with 12 of those years to be served behind bars.

The charge stemmed from the 2018 robbery of Woodforest Bank wherein Anderson approached a bank teller and handed her a note demanding money. Surveillance footage inside the store captured Anderson’s movements and eventually led the Greenville Police Department to making an arrest.

The case against Anderson was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney M. Austin Frye, who expressed his appreciation for the diligence and dedication of the officers and investigators of the Greenville Police Department. Frye stated that: “With every criminal we remove from the streets of Greenville and prosecute to a lengthy sentence, the Greenville Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office are not only decreasing the number of active criminals from our community, but also sending a message to others that Greenville and Washington County are not areas where crime will be tolerated or dealt with mildly- we will do everything possible to ensure that our city and county are safe for all citizens and their families.”
