ADA Takiyah Perkins Awarded Mississippi Prosecutor of the Year

Greenville, MS – At last week’s annual meeting of the Mississippi Prosecutors Association, Assistant District Attorney Takiyah Perkins was awarded Prosecutor of the Year for 2024, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced today.

The MPA is a state-wide organization, made up of all the district attorneys, assistant district attorneys, the attorney general and all assistant attorney generals, as well as all justice court, county and municipal prosecutors in the state of Mississippi.  Members also include all investigators and victim assistance coordinators of all the district attorney offices across Mississippi.

The MPA’s mission is to foster and maintain a culture of honor and integrity among prosecuting attorneys within the state and to promote and facilitate the continuing study of law, dissemination of knowledge and practical training within the association.

ADA Perkins was recognized by the MPA due to her exemplary service and dedication to the citizens of the Fourth District of Mississippi and the entire state.  ADA Perkins has been employed as an Assistant DA within this district for over 15 years and has always been committed to administering justice and protecting the rights of all citizens whether victims, defendants or the general public.

DA Richardson added that, “I along with the entire staff are immensely proud of Takiyah Perkins.  She not only has been a dedicated member of this staff but she has shown her leadership abilities as well, having served as the President of the MPA from 2021-2022, and leading the efforts to have ground breaking legislation passed at our State Capitol.”
