Greenville, MS- A man responsible for a Washington County crime spree was brought to justice this week in Washington County. Lorenzo Dye pled guilty to multiple felony crimes in front of Judge Ashley Hines District Attorney W. Dewayne Richardson announced today and was sentenced to twenty-eight total years with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Dye pled guilty to multiple offenses, including Possession of Stolen Property, Auto Burglary, two Armed Robbery charges, two Armed Carjacking charges, an Aggravated Assault charge and an Escape charge. Dye was sentenced after his plea to twenty eight years with the Mississippi Department of Corrections for these crimes. Dye will have to serve the first eighteen years of that sentence day-for-day without the possibility of parole. Dye will then have to serve five years in custody for the escape from the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility that occurred in December of this year. The remaining 5 years will be spent on Post Release Supervision.
The charges that Dye pled guilty to were brought by the Greenville Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. According to Richardson, “Without the hard work of our local law enforcement agencies, Dye would not have been brought to justice for the crime wave that he caused in our area.” “The work by these agencies as well as law enforcement in the State of Texas, where he was captured, means that the citizens of Washington County can rest a bit easier,” Richardson also said. The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Richardson and Assistant District Attorney John Herzog Jr.
