CONVICTED FELON SENTENCED ON DRUG AND FIREARMS CHARGES
Greenville, MS—Tony Phillips pled guilty Monday afternoon in the Circuit Court of Washington County to the two (2) separate charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent, District Attorney W. Dewayne Richardson announced today.
With the firearms charge set for trial this week and the drug possession charge recently indicted by a Washington County Grand Jury, Phillips chose to plead guilty to both charges and received a sentence of 8 years to serve with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
The cases against Phillips were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney M. Austin Frye, who stated: “[i]t’s important to get those individuals who have repeatedly violated the laws of our State off the streets of Greenville. With the arrest and sentencing of Tony Phillips, the Greenville Police Department has once again done their part to remove narcotics and firearms from our community, helping to move Greenville in an ever more positive direction. As always, the District Attorney’s office would like to thank the officers and investigators of the Greenville Police Department for ensuring the safety of our citizens and community.”
