Indianola, MS—Denarius Roscoe, 29 yoa of Indianola pled guilty to Armed Carjacking and Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon charges arising out of an incident that took place on May 16, 2022 at the demolished furniture store off of Highway 82 in Indianola, MS.
Testimony at the trial would have revealed that during the early morning hours of May 16, 2022 officers of the Indianola Police Department made contact with Patrick Dukes who advised his vehicle had been taken at gun point. Mr. Dukes was able to identify the defendant as being the one who robbed him of his vehicle at gun point. On that same day, officers with the Indianola Police Department were able to locate the defendant, the victim’s vehicle along with the firearm that was used.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Takiyah Perkins. “The citizens of Sunflower County have a right to not have their personal property taken from them by force. We appreciate the victim being willing to come forward and the quick response by the officers of the Indianola Police Department. ” Perkins added.
Fourth Circuit Judge Richard Smith sentenced Denarius Roscoe to the State’s recommendation of fifteen (15) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections for the crime of Armed Carjacking, and ten (10) years for the crime of Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon.
