Greenville, MS – Kemontae Wedlow, 20, of Greenville, pled guilty to Armed Robbery, Armed Carjacking, and Aggravated Assault, District Attorney W. Dewayne Richardson announced today.
Wedlow was charged with Armed Robbery and Armed Carjacking following an investigation by the Leland Police Department into an incident reported in the 400 block of Broad Street in 2023. During the incident, Wedlow physically assaulted a woman who was at least 65 years of age, threatened her while in possession of a firearm, and took her vehicle and several other personal items.
In a separate incident in 2023, which occurred prior to the Armed Robbery and Armed Carjacking, Wedlow was charged with Aggravated Assault following an investigation by the Greenville Police Department into a shooting reported in the 400 block of Washington Avenue, where a 15-year-old was shot outside of a party.
Wedlow was subsequently indicted by a grand jury for the offenses. He appeared in Circuit Court on Monday, August 24, 2026, and pled guilty to all pending charges.
Circuit Court Judge Richard Smith accepted the District Attorney’s sentencing recommendation and sentenced Wedlow to twenty-five (25) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections for the Armed Robbery and Armed Carjacking charges, with twenty (20) years to serve followed by five (5) years of Post-Release Supervision. For the crimes of Armed Carjacking and Armed Robbery Wedlow will not be eligible for early release nor parole and must serve every day of his sentence in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
For the Aggravated Assault charge, Wedlow was sentenced to twenty (20) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with fifteen (15) years to serve followed by five (5) years of Post-Release Supervision. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Arriel Hutchenson. The Office of the District Attorney is thankful for the investigative efforts of the Leland Police Department and the Greenville Police Department, as well as the courage of both victims in reporting these crimes and identifying the individual responsible. Wedlow now has 7,300 days in custody of MDOC for his violent actions against one of our citizens who was simply trying to live a peaceful life.
