Greenville, MS—Clemell Bogan, Jr. was sentenced to Life Imprisonment on Thursday, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced.

Bogan, Jr. was convicted of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault earlier this month after a three-day jury trial in Washington County. His indictment arose from the March 2020 shooting death of Michael Harvey in Leland. Another victim with Harvey was targeted but was not struck.

Assistant District Attorneys Kaylon McCou and Austin Frye represented the State at trial. Bogan Jr.’s sentencing hearing was held Thursday where he was sentenced by Circuit Judge White-Richard to Life Imprisonment as required by state law for First Degree Murder and twenty (20) years to serve for the Aggravated Assault, along with five (5) years to serve for the Firearm Enhancement. All three sentences will be served at the same time.

The Office of the District Attorney appreciates the quick response and thorough investigative work by the Leland Police Department in this case.
