Greenwood, MS – Miranda Hunt of Greenwood, was sentenced on Friday, February 6th after having previously pled guilty to Aggravated Assault on January 6th, District Attorney W. Dewayne Richardson announced today.
On May 29, 2021, officers were dispatched to 2400 Highway 82 (Scott Petroleum) where it was reported that a female was shot by another female on the premises. Marnesha Cage was determined to be the victim of this incident after she drove herself to Greenwood Leflore Hospital to seek medical care for multiple gunshot wounds. Cage reported to police who shot her and video footage of the shooting was obtained by the Greenwood Police Department. After a thorough investigation, Hunt was later indicted for Aggravated Assault.
Hunt was sentenced by the Court to fifteen (15) years with the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with ten (10) years to serve in custody, the remaining five (5) years on post-release supervision upon her release.
This case was prosecuted by Patricia A. Hicks who commended Ms. Cage for her bravery and the Greenwood Police Department for their diligence in obtaining the evidence necessary to provide closure in the case.
