Greenwood, MS—Jaekwon Huff (20 yoa) was sentenced this week for his conviction of Second Degree Murder in Leflore County, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced today.
Huff was convicted of Second Degree Murder on May 9, 2024 by a Leflore County Jury for the killing of Leonard Edwards (22 yoa). On October 16, 2021, Huff caught a ride from a party to the Williams Landing neighborhood home of Leonard Edwards. Huff then under the guise of friendship visited with Edwards for approximately an hour. After the visit, Huff cowardly came up behind Edwards and shot him in the back approximately six times ending Edwards’ life. Huff then went to the home of some of his friends and bragged about murdering Edwards. Judge Ashley Hines sentenced Huff to 40 years in prison in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections and 5 years PRS due to the gun enhancement.
