Greenville, MS— Joshua Taylor of Greenville pled guilty to Conspiracy, Robbery, and, Aggravated Assault in Washington County last week, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced today.
Taylor was charged with Conspiracy and Robbery following the Greenville Police Department’s investigation of an incident reported in the 800 block of Riveria Circle where Taylor and two other accomplices threatened a citizen before taking a mini motorcycle and moped in August of 2023. Following his arrest, Taylor was involved in the assault of another inmate in the county jail and charged with Aggravated Assault.
Taylor was indicted by a later grand jury for both crimes. He appeared last week in Circuit Court and pled guilty to all of his pending charges. Taylor was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Margaret Carey-McCray to The District Attorney’s recommendation of fifteen (15) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections—he was ordered to serve ten (10) years, then complete five (5) years of Post-Release Supervision. His sentences run at the same time. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kaylon McCou.
The Office of the District Attorney is thankful for the investigative efforts of the Greenville Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as well as the courage of both victims to report these crimes and identify the defendants involved.
