Generio Harris convicted for Valentine’s Day Murder
Greenwood, MS – In LeFlore County Circuit Court, Generio Harris, 25 yoa, pled guilty to killing his then girlfried Kajta Allen, 22 yoa, on February 14, 2016, District Attorney Dewayne Richardson announced today.
On Valentine’s Day of 2016, Greenwood Police Department officers responded to South Avenue in reference to a female being shot. Allen was located some time later with what appeared to be five gunshot wounds. Allen passed away just over a month later at the University Medical Center in Jackson while be treated for her injuries. After a thorough investigation, her boyfriend Generio Harris was charged with First Degree Murder for Allen’s death.
Generio Harris was scheduled to stand trial for this homicide this week, but he chose to plead guilty before Circuit Court Judge Ashley Hines today. Harris pled guilty to the crime of Second Degree Murder and was sentenced to the District Attorney Office’s recommendation of 30 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Generio Harris will serve the entire 30 years in prison without any opportunity for early release or parole.
Richardson added that, “the Office of the District Attorney appreciates the hard work of the Greenwood Police Department in solving this case, and we hope that this conviction and sentence gives the family of Ms. Allen a sense of closure to this tragic event.”
